Basket ball
Do you like basket ball? I do we have been practicing basketball skills like bounce pass, pivot, chest pass and more. Today i will be telling you about basketball. The coaches were coach Malik and coach Manu.
The coaches taught us the beef B in beef is balance, E in beef is elbow, the other E is for eyes on target, and F is follow through. The beef helps with shooting the ball so the ball can go through the hoop.
Bounce pass
Bounce pass is when you bounce the ball when you are going to pass. It helps when a person is blocking the person that you are trying to pass to.
Over head pass.
Over head pass is when you pass the ball over your head. A really good tip is when you are doing the over head pass you should pass the ball when someone is blocking the person that you are trying to pass to.

Why are dogs man's best friend?
Dogs are man’s best friend.
Dogs are man’s best friend.
There are many different pets cats, parrots and other species. Most people think that dogs are man’s best friend. In my report today I am going to tell you why dogs are man’s best friend.
What dogs can do.
Dogs can do all sorts of things like smelling drugs, tracking people down like robbers, and smell people who bring fruit to New Zealand and all kind of other things.
Playful dogs
Playful dogs play with their owner. Their owner gives the dog dog toys to play with. When you take your dog for a walk, it also helps you get some exercise. They play with other dogs but sometimes they can get a little bit rough. It is nice watching a dog playing. It makes us laugh.
Police dogs
Dogs help the police by tracking lost people down, people that steal from shops or banks. If a burglar drops something the dog can run up to the object and smell it then track the person down because everyone has different smell. Police train dogs so they can be good at their job that they do. Dogs at the airport run off to smell the suit cases in case someone brings drugs or explosive thing.
Farmer dogs
Farmer dogs help the farmer round-up the sheep to get the sheep into their gate. Dog’s can run fast and humans can’t run that fast. Dogs bark and run at the same time to get the sheep into the next paddock. A farmer would have lots of trouble rounding up the sheep without their dog.
This is all the information about why a dog is a man’s best friend. Dogs have a keen sense of smell, helps the farmer round-up the sheep, and play with it’s owner.

Shark Writing
Splish, splash, splosh the water splashed against my face as I was paddling out in the sea. I could vaguely make out a shadow gliding silently across the sea. I felt terrified as the monsters sharp teeth opened. As it got closer I felt even more terrified. It came nearer to my kayak.Once it was under my boat I leaned out to see what it was.I got closer and saw the shadow of a great white shark. As the shark was swimming he captured some fish, his jaws opened wide as he ate the fish. I was still in the middle of the sea trying to calm myself down but I ended up screaming. I paddled in towards the shore. I could hear people screaming and shouting at me as the predator came closer and closer as I went to shore.
I could feel my legs being pulled behind me. I could see a trail of blood, I looked again and saw it was my blood. The lifeguards came quickly to rescue me. They dragged me onto the hot sand. The great white shark took my leg and swam peacefully away with my leg for lunch. The ambulance came and took me away to Middlemore Hospital. I had to stay in hospital for 2 weeks to get stitched back together around my gaping wound. Sometime later I had a prosthetic leg fitted. I don’t think that I will ever want to go into the sea again.

Avandale Market
One busy Saturday morning a bunch of people went to the avondale market. It was very full lots of people trying to push past as they wanted to buy some fruit and veges and other hot food. Most children don’t want to go to markets on Saturday or Sunday they just want to sleep in but I always want to go to Saturday markets.
.
Lots of different languages might be saying come and get your sweet apples for $99c. Lots of kids running around while parents buying things and maybe children crying because they want candy floss or other hot foods.
I could see lots of different fruits and veggies lined up in there colours all stacked together like all the apples, tomatoes, strawberries, and other red fruits. There is also lots of green fruit and vege. “ 1 dollar fruit if you buy 4 pieces of fruit or vege” said the man. That was a pretty sweet deal I said to myself. I bought 4 pieces fruit and handed the man $1.
Finally it was night time when not much people. I could smell lots of different peoples food from different countries the smells of the foods smelt very nice I wish I had every single food that is in the food stalls. So I went to every single food stall and I came across a Indian stall I looked at their food menu and I saw butter chicken with rice and naan bread and a fizzy drink. I ordered it and I went home and finished it. “Finally i’m home,” I said in my mind.

Tropical Island
I was sailing and stopped on a hot, sunny Island. I hopped out of the boat and started to walk around. I could see the hot golden sand in between my toes. Also i could see the reflecting moving water. I could hear the gentle water beating against the rocks. I felt the gritty sand flowing through my hands. I feed the seagulls they started to screech because they were fighting over food.

The Great Egg Drop
On Monday there was a Great Egg Drop. What we had to do was to make a device that will protect an egg from cracking on the ground below.
The egg was dropped from the playground.
For Deja’s device she used a plastic bag, string, bubble wrap, tape and a biscuit container. For her cushioning Deja used the bubble wrap to protect the egg from impact. Her plastic bag device was floating when she dropped it from a great height. Deja’s device saved the egg from cracking.
For Johnny’s device he used plastic plate, 2 plastic bag parachute’s. For his cushioning he used plastic wrapping and plastic bags. His device saved his egg from cracking. He dropped it from the Senior playground and the junior playground and his egg survived.
I think next time we do another Egg drop that I might join in and make a device that will protect my egg from cracking.

Oakley Creek
On Tuesday morning room 20 & 16 went to the hall to talk about Oakley creek. The council people came to talk about Oakley Creek because the Oakley Creek is flooding. The council are going to redesign it so it doesn't flood again. They are going to build a playground for Oakley Creek for the children to play on.
My first idea for the Oakley creek playground is water stepping stones. So what it is that when you want to go to the other side of the Creek you can step across it. If you are bored you can just put your feet in the water and enjoy the cold water when it’s summer.
Also I want at the park is a flying fox that can go over the creek. It will have a double sided seat and 3 tyres at the end of the flying fox. So when you hit the end it will swing you up in the air for like 4or 5 seconds then you will come back slowly back to the start.
If you build my idea i think you should be the first to hear about my idea for Oakley Creek park. So any day after school or in your free time why don’t you head down to Oakley creek park.

Big waves
When I went to the beach I could already see people enjoying the big waves. I could see people swimming, and surfing. The waves knocking people over while they’re swimming in the blue, sparkling water. I could see the waves pushing people to the sand and you could taste the salty water. I could feel the burning sand between my toes so I quickly ran into the water. I could feel the sun beating against my skin. I could hear the waves crashing against the rocks. I could hear children having fun, giggling and screaming. I could smell sausages on the BBQ.
